Was lese ich da gerade bei Homeland Stupidity zur geheimdienstlichen SWIFT Absaugaktion ?
A secret U.S. government program instituted shortly after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks searched large databases of international bank transactions for terrorist activity. Publication of the program has drawn criticism from conservatives, while the program itself, believed to be secret, wasnt actually very secret after all.
The program, run by the Central Intelligence Agency and the U.S. Department of the Treasury, provides access to records held by the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication, which processes most foreign wire transfers among 7,800 financial institutions. The program is audited by Booz Allen Hamilton to ensure that only terrorism-related searches are performed.

Das Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) ist durch eine FOIA Anfrage an Dokumente gelangt, die einzelne Konzerne und Forschungseinrichtungen mit ihrem Anteil zur Entwicklung von TIAS Komponenten benennen.
Unter den Beteiligten findet sich das Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), die Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), die University of Southern California, die Colorado State University, Lockheed Martin Information Systems, Booz Allen Hamilton, Raytheon und viele andere mehr.
